twoTone(); Shows at Elements of Art Gallery!

Last night Jennifer Deafenbaugh, the interactive artist behind the Itty-Bitty Studio, showed her first piece of public interactive art. The piece is called "twoTone();." It uses web cameras and a homemade, real-time video filter to allow the user to manipulate the colors and shapes of a halftone-like pattern that is projected on the screen. Passers-by influence the piece whether they know it or not, and are encouraged to experiment with their own motion and image.
"Digital, interactive and physically computed art such new areas for the traditional artist to explore. There are so many opportunities to create engaging user experiences, and it's amazing the impact that mediums such as this have on our understanding of the language of visual images. It's exciting to see what pieces like this and "Funeractive" -- a webcam piece designed by Phong Nguygen, (who is a great inspiration, advisor and friend to the studio) will inspire."
The version shown last night was relatively small rendition of a larger-scale piece. When complete, it will be shown on the street outside of Elements of Art, 507 N. High Street, on a 12 foot screen. Details up soon!
